Senator Bassey Albert knocks Bafil, “You Cannot be a Senator from the Back Door”

The Senator representing North East (Uyo) Senatorial District in the National Assembly, Senator Bassey Albert Akpan (OBA), has reassured his supporters and the people of his district that he remains their Senator whom they duly elected both at the 2014 PDP primary and the 2015 general elections.
He made the assertion today while fielding questions in a live phone-in radio programme on Planet 101.1 FM in Uyo, called; “The Umbrella” anchored by the PDP publicity secretary, Barr Ini Ememobong and was monitored by Radar newspapers.
The senator used the programme to dismiss the spate of media reports insinuating that the Federal High Court sitting in Uyo and presided over by Justice Fatun Riman yesterday stroke out his application for a stay of execution of the earlier judgement of the court in a pre-election matter between him and Hon Bassey Etim (Bafil) as false propaganda and high level of desperation by his Bafil.
Senator Akpan explained that the true position of what transpired yesterday in court was that his lawyers and the PDP withdrew their applications from the court since they had similar applications pending in the Court of Appeal.

Governor Udom Emmanuel doles out cash to residents after ‘historic’ anti-govt protest

Surprise, excitement, and expectation reigned over the Akpan Andem Market in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State, on Tuesday as Governor Udom Emmanuel paid an unscheduled visit to the market. A governor or even ranking state official hardly visits any market in the state except during political campaigns. Mr. Emmanuel’s visit was in the afternoon, at the peak of activities in the market. He was accompanied by security officials and some aides, including his Special Assistant on Youth Matters, Aniefiok Iwadudofia. Mr. Emmanuel, wearing a yellow caftan and a black hat, walked through the muddy pathway inside the market.
