The Special Adviser on Political, Legislative Affairs and Water Resources, to Akwa Ibom State Governor, Rt. Hon. (Barr.) Ekong Sampson has said that Nigeria as a nation owes the people of Eket Senatorial District in Akwa Ibom State access to opportunity.
The Honourable Special Adviser made the statement while playing host to the Executives of the Eket Senatorial District Youth Assembly (ESDYA) who paid him a courtesy visit in Uyo during the week. He said Eket Senatorial District is of great importance to Nigeria, describing it as the economic nucleus of the nation.
Barrister Ekong Sampson commended the youth group for their role in maintaining the peaceful atmosphere of the area, which has allowed for thriving economic activities. He said Akwa Ibom State, particularly Eket Senatorial District, has been the most peaceful area in the oil-rich Niger Delta region. This positive disposition of the people of this district and their enormous contribution to the economy of the federation should not go unrewarded, he added.
According to the Special Adviser, for a people so richly endowed, what they need is access to opportunity. This, he said, will be demonstrated by Akwa Ibom State and Nigeria indeed giving Eket Senatorial District the required support for continuity of Governor Udom Emmanuel in office for 8 years, as the rotation has been.
