DRUNKEN PRESS SECRETARY: Moses Ekpo’s SSA on media drinks to stupor-Beaten up by two prostitutes

By ABASIAMA ISONG The Senior Special Assistant on media and press secretary to Mr. Moses Ekpo Deputy Governor of Akwa Ibom State Pastor Ekikere Umoh yesterday in Uyo precisely at about 9:28pm was beaten to pulp by two commercial sex workers who clashed on his head. The ugly incident took place at a road side bar/eatery along Aka road opposite Maldini Marbles close to former AKBC in Uyo, the Akwa Ibom State capital. Ekikere Umoh who is a preacher with Insight Bible Church was dressed in a somewhat checked shirt and arrived the joint by few minutes to eight pm with a fair skinned lady who is approximately in her early twenties. The Deputy Governor’s press secretary upon arrival had begun ordering for Beer and small stout with pepper soup and rice for himself and his young love partner. The exodus from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Esit Eket Local Government Area, Akwa Ibom State, its former stronghold, continued on Tuesday with the defection of hundreds of its members in four wards, making it a total of eight wards in the area that have so far fallen to the All Progressives Congress (APC). Two weeks ago, there was a massive defection in four other wards in the LGA which has 10 wards. The PDP in Esit Eket in recent times has lost several members including a former Senator, Senator Etang Umoyo, two former Members of the House of Representatives, Barr. Bassey Dan-Abia (Jnr) and Mr. Eseme Eyiboh, a former Commissioner representing Akwa Ibom in the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC), Engr. Imaobong Inyang and a retired Permanent Secretary, Barr. Mike Eyo. Global oil giant, ExxonMobil, is one of the international investors eyeing investment opportunities in the proposed Akwa Ibom State government owned Liberty Oil and Gas Free Zone in Ikot Abasi, an official said. The special adviser to the Akwa Ibom State Governor on technical matters, Ufot Ebong, said ExxonMobil, which has its operational base in Akwa Ibom, already sent in a request for a dedicated oil and gas terminal in the proposed free zone pending when it would become operational. Mr. Ebong did not give further details or specifics on ExxonMobil’s requests. On cases of property owners within the area acquired by government for the free zone, he assured that all concerns would be addressed either through integration into the project or relocation from the project site. Temporary reprieve came for embattled lawmaker, Senator Bassey Akpan, as the Leader of the PDP caucus in the Senate, Senator Godswill Akpabio, yesterday inisted that the former was indeed the party’s flag bearer in the last election for Akwa Ibom North-East senatorial district. Akwa Ibom government has lamented the continued decline of its revenue from the Federation Account saying it would have a negative effect on funding for Ministries, Departments and Agencies in the 2017 budget. The total budget outlay for the 2017 appropriation bill recently signed by Governor Udom Emmanuel into law is N371 billion. The Police in Abuja have few minutes ago arrested the former National Assembly lawmaker for Oron Federal Constituency Mr. Robinson Uwak. THE INK understands Police sources hinted our reporters from Abuja that the former House of Representatives man was arrested in Asokoro in connection with numerous petitions from different sources alluding to the many atrocities the Okobo born politician has committed against them. THE INK gathered from reliable sources that Robinson Uwak has been detained by the police and may likely be arraigned in court on Monday. It was not clear which of the Police Stations Uwak was taken to but reliable sources say he may be cooling off in the Force Headquarters or in Asokoro Police Station.
